Ministries at Our Lady of Guadalupe

A parish the size of Our Lady of Guadalupe cannot funtion without the time and talents of its many volunteers. If you would like to help out with any of the ministries described below, please contact  the church office at (707) 837-8962

Altar Linen Care (English)
Parishioners who participate in the alter linen care ministry wash the small linen items and see to the professional cleaning of vestments and larger items. Contact Ursula Harvey at (707) 836-0407

Altar Servers (English)
Altar Servers are boys and girls who assist the priest during the Sunday liturgies. This important ministry is open to children in the Third through Eighth grades who have received First Communion. Training is provided as well as fun activities throughout the year. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. The Secretary will have the ministry person contact you.

Baptism Preparation (English)
Parents of children to be baptized attend two preparation meetings on the meaning of baptism offered by this ministry. Parents should make arrangements at least six weeks in advance of the intended baptism date. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. Bulletin (English)
A few hours a week are involved in publishing the weekend bulletin for the parish liturgy. Weekly announcements are picked up at the parish office and the information composed using Microsoft Publisher. We print and fold the bulletin on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Mary Agatha Furth Center.  If you are interested in helping out with either composing or printing and folding, contact Sally Hudson at (707) 480-1582. Caritas
The Caritas ministry is administered by Fr. Angelito and provides emergency financial aid for those in need. Father consults his associates and the parish secretary on matters of concern. Contact Fr. Angelito at (707) 837-8962 ext. 202

Children's Liturgy of the Word
This ministry takes place during the Sunday 9:00  liturgy and "breaks open" the word of God in the Sunday readings in a way that children ages three through six can understand. Contact Heather Hauck at (707) 836-7979

Collection Counters
The purpose of this ministry is to support the parish financial department by counting the weekly collection. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. The Secretary will have the ministry person contact you.

Confirmation (English)
The Confirmation ministry prepares young people to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. The Secretary will have the ministry person contact you.

Eucharistic Ministers (English)
Eucharistic ministers assist the priest in distributing the Holy Eucharist at Saturday and Sunday liturgies. Training is provided to new ministers and all ministers are asked to attend two yearly meetings. Contact Paula Walsh at (707) 217-2647

Fabulous Frolicsome Fifties

Feed the Hungry
Feed the Hungry (in honor of Mother Teresa) distributes bags of food to the poor of Windsor every Saturday morning. Volunteers in this ministry shop weekly at the Redwood Empire Food Bank and help to distribute the bags of food to needy families. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. Grieving Ministry
The Grieving ministry offers a grief support group by a certified grief counselor. People deal with their loss by listening and sharing. This takes place in a prayer setting. Contact Elizabeth Galvin-Little at (707) 838-0748.

Healing Ministry
The Healing Ministry is a group of adult men and women (18 or over) that take Eucharist to anyone from Our Lady of Guadalupe parish that is not able to attend church. The recipient should call the parish office at 837-8962 to request this ministry. Visit schedules are arranged between the recipient and the minister. The need may be long term or short term and is usually once a week.

If your heart is telling you to reach out to someone lonely or suffering, this may be the ministry for you. When the elderly or sick can no longer go out into the community, these ministers take Christ to them; thus helping them to stay a part of the parish community. This is a wonderfully rewarding ministry, requiring only a warm and loving heart and the ability to be a good listener with compassion and empathy for those suffering.

Meetings are held the last Wednesday of each month in the Fr. Angelito Library from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. ongoing training is offered for ministering to the elderly, the sick and dying of any age and also to their families. Meetings are also a time for ministers to pray together for all of our parish needs, each other and ourselves as we work to do God’s will. Maintaining a healthy and joyful attitude is important too, so meetings are also a time to play and socialize together. If his sounds like you, contact Elizabeth Galvin-Little at(707) 838-0748.

Hospitality Ministry
The Hospitality ministry welcomes new parishioners at monthly gatherings of the congregation following the Sunday liturgy. Refreshments are served in the courtyard of the Mary Agatha Furth Center, adjacent to the church. They are also at the door to welcome parishioners and visitors to the parish at the weekend liturgies. Knight of Columbus
The purpose of this organization is to promote Catholic faith and help the church in any way possible. The Knights also act as a fundraising organization for the mentally disabled and other church ministries. The Knights of Columbus is open to all practicing Catholic males over the age of 18. Lector's are parishioners who proclaim God's word in the scriptures at the Saturday and Sunday liturgies. Lectors must possess the willingness to project and proclaim God's word clearly about once a month, and in their lives strive to live what they proclaim at the pulpit. Liturgy Music, Adult (English)
The Choir ministry welcomes children and adults who love to sing or play an instrument. Children practice once a week in preparation for a once a month youth liturgy. Adults practice once a week and sing at the 9:00 liturgy every Sunday. No special talent is needed, just a desire to make a "joyful noise to the Lord". Liturgy Music, Adult (Spanish)
The Hispanic Music Ministry is comprised of several vocal and instrumental groups that participate in the Spanish liturgies and will also serve at weddings and Quincieñeras on request. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. The Secretary will have the ministry person contact you.

The Hispanic Children's Choir participates in the Spanish liturgies twice a month as well as at other special Spanish-speaking church events. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. The Secretary will have the ministry person contact you.

Madonna Sodality
The Madonna Sodality is open to women of the parish who desire to come together in the spirit of community and caring. The Madonnas serve our parish by sponsoring fundraising and social activities. Contact Dru Pelmulder at (707) 836-9609

Marriage Preparation (English)
Arrangements for the sacrament of marriage must be made at least six months in advance of the intended date of marriage. Prayer group (Spanish) Oración Carismatica
This energetic Spanish-speaking prayer group meets once a week to prey the rosary and praise God in music and word and use the gifts of the Holy Spirit such as praying in Tongues, and Interpretations, etc. Meets Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the church. RCIA (English)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a faith formation program for adults interested in joining the Catholic church. Adults who have not completed their sacraments on initiation, such as Confirmation and Eucharist, also join in this program. Contact Pamela Faure at (707) 481-0249.

Religious Education (English)
The religious education program provides our parish children with a progressive learning experience in weekly class meetings, participation in the Sunday Mass and families living their faith together. Shelter the Homeless
Shelter the Homeless “sponsors” a transitional house for a homeless family that is run by Catholic Charities in Santa Rosa.  As part of the sponsorship, members help with house repairs and maintenance; help procure commodities for the family, as well as work with Catholic Charities staff in helping the family become independent. That could include tutoring children, financial planning guidance for parents amongst many other things as needed. Members also work closely with other parish groups to recruit help for larger projects. Contact Denise Dixon at (707) 837-9306.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
This organization helps to feed and clothe the poor of our community. Assistance is also given with daily living needs such as rent, utilities, and furniture. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is open to any member of our parish. Contact Paulette Carroll at

Ushers (English)
Ushers are men and women, high school age or older, who welcome parishioners and visitors to our parish, assist during the presentation of the gifts, and during communion. All that is required to participate in this ministry is a warmth of spirit and a willingness to serve. Please contact the Parish Secretary at (707) 837-862. The Secretary will have the ministry person contact you.

Youth Group (English)
These ministries serve the youth of this parish by providing a small Christian community of people their own age. As well as worship, these young people participate in service, exploration of their Catholic faith, and social activities. On-site adult supervision is provided.
